introductions |
"I miss you" was originally titled Gail Biffen (a gibberish phrase) and written for Debut, but since Björk and collaborator Nelle Hooper couldn't come up with a chorus for the song, it was left off the album.
Björk then teamed up with Howie B and re-wrote the song which would then be released on post as "I miss you".
The result was raw Latino. "I miss you" became the final Post-single in January 1997. The two CD EPs contains remixes as well as a previously unreleased song, the Icelandic techno-track, Karvel.

"I Miss You" was directed by John Kricfalusi, and animated by the cartoon big shots at Spumco. It has aired on MTV's 120 Minutes and Alternative Nation programs, as well as Canada's MuchMusic. "I Miss You" even won an Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject of 1997 from The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood.
A variety of techniques are used, including traditional 2-D cel animation by Kricfalusi's own Spumco Productions and Colorkey Productions, 3-D computer animation supervised by Charlie Gibson at Rhythm & Hues, real-time motion-capture animation by House of Moves, plus blue screen mattes bringing in live-action into the mix.
The live-action sequences with Björk were shot in a Los Angeles studio in just one day. The entire video treatment took 9 months to complete.
Björk, a long-time fan of Kricfalusi's work, insisted that he do a video for her when they met at one of her concerts. She was so pleased when she first saw John's storyboard that she apparently proclaimed, "It's just like Christmas!" and did not ask for any changes.
